Graphics and Halftones: Presented by Sharri Sable and Jeff Johns of Thomson-Shore
Sharri and Jeff have literally decades of experience in scanning and graphic manipulation. In this workshop, they will give you the tips and tricks to assure top quality reproduction including:

  • Learn about end dots, dot gain, adjusting tones, posterizing of images, rescreens moire, resolution...
  • They will also show you how to properly convert 4/c process to black and white
  • Photoshop: Introduction to all of those amazing tools: cloning, patch, crop, dust/scratches and marquee

Job Preparation for Printing: Presented by Jeff Rhoades of Thomson-Shore
Preparation is key to having your job sail through the manufacturing process. It is not just about proper file creation. In this workshop, Jeff will cover:

  • Communication: What we need before job submission
  • Using the right tool for the job means proper software
  • Understanding color from your monitor to finished piece
  • Tools to make cover and jacket layout easy
  • Electronic file submission to save you time and money

Jeff is the Tech Guru of Thomson-Shore and will give you all of the tools and information to put your best book forward!

In a Bind? Presented by Loretta Roskowski of Thomson-Shore
In order to ensure your jackets and covers are manufactured perfectly, it is important to understand the different bind styles available to you and how to properly calculate spine bulk. In this workshop, Loretta will also cover:

  • Understanding proper file creation
  • Graphics, color, bleeds and margins
  • Types of binding styles that Thomson-Shore offers
  • How to figure spine bulk and use our on-line program
  • Using cover and jacket templates in your design process
