Best of PI - Binding

Spring 1993 Notch Binding

Our recent experience with notch binding indicates we can successfully soft bind coated stocks without Smyth sewing. This creates a significant, potential saving in binding costs. We have also begun notch binding case bound books when the customer requests it and can save about $.Ol a signature here versus Smyth sewing. The saving is significantly greater however, in soft bound books. A 1500 copy soft bound book with ten signatures would be about $470.00 less expensive if notch bound instead of Smyth sewn. Case bound, it would be $150.00 less.
